SCHATZ FINISHES FOURTH IN DIRTCAR NATIONALS FINALE

BARBERVILLE, FL - Donny Schatz was hoping to make it consecutive wins to start the 2010 World of Outlaws (WoO) season on Sunday at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla. After picking up the victory in Saturday's season opener, Schatz piloted the Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) No. 15 Armor All/STP/ParkerStore J&J to a fourth place finish in Sunday's finale of the 39th Annual DIRTcar Nationals.

"We kind of just hung on there in the feature," said Schatz, the four-time and defending WoO champion. "The last restart kind of helped me get back into contention. I know me and  Danny (Lasoski) raced side by side late and he ended up getting me. We learned a lot. Got our first win and started the season the right way.  Now, we have a few weeks before we get back to racing at Las Vegas."

Schatz continued his strong qualifying on Sunday night by turning the second fastest lap in the field of 34 cars. He finished third in the second heat and sixth in the six-lap dash to earn a third row starting spot. In the 30-lap feature, Schatz moved up early into fourth, but then raced in fifth for most the race. A late restart allowed him to moved back into the top three, but he ultimately came home in fourth.

The results of the weekend give Schatz the WoO points lead by three over his TSR teammate Steve Kinser and Joey Saldana.

Schatz will return to action on Friday, Feb. 26 when he competes in the World of Outlaws Las Vegas Shootout at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Dirt Track.
