SCHATZ SECOND IN BRISBANE
ARCHERFIELD, QLD - Donny Schatz bounced back from Wednesday night's DNF with a second place finish Friday night in the World Series Sprintcars event at Archerfiled Speedway near Brisbane, Queensland, Austraila.
Schatz qualified third in the field of 37 cars and earned the pole position by racing from 10th to fourth in his first heat and then from ninth to fifth in his second. James McFadden took the early lead and Schatz raced in third most of the race. He overtook McFadden for second on lap 15 and chased down leader Cameron Gessner, but came up just shot in the 20-lap feature event.
His results allowed him to collect the most points in the evening heading into Saturday's $20,000-to-win feature event at the track. It will be Schatz' final run in Australia this season and last year, he closed his campaign by lapping the field to collect the $20,000 prize.
