Hall
of Fame Weekend at Knoxville
Next Up for Tony Stewart Racing
INDIANAPOLIS
(June 2, 2010) Any time the World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint car series
competes at Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway, its a big deal, and this
weekends trip to central Iowa will be no different. The Outlaws, led by
the Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) combo of Steve Kinser and Donny Schatz, return to
the Sprint Car Capital of the World for three nights of racing at
the famed half-mile dirt oval beginning Thursday with the Mediacom Shootout,
continuing Friday with the inaugural Hall of Fame Classic Presented by
Mediacom, and concluding Saturday with the Mediacom Shootout finale.
Opportunity
is the key word for both Kinser and Schatz. The three nights of action on the
track will be used as preparation for the seasons biggest event, the 50th
anniversary Knoxville Nationals in August. The weekend also is an opportunity
for streaks to continue and streaks to end. Kinser, driver of the TSR No. 11
Bass Pro Shops/JD Byrider Maxim, will be looking win his first race at
Knoxville since April 2005, while Schatz, pilot of the TSR No. 15 Armor
All/STP/ParkerStore J&J, hopes to win the Outlaws opening feature at
Knoxville for the fourth straight season.

SCHATZ CAPS MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND WITH CHARGE
Franklin, Pa. (May 30) - Moving forward has been the goal during the month of May in World of Outlaws (WoO) action for Donny Schatz, the four-time and reigning WoO champion. After Saturday's thrilling victory in Charlotte, Schatz raced the Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) No. 15 Armor All/STP/ParkerStore J&J from 17th to fifth Sunday night in his first career appearance at Tri-City Speedway in Franklin, Pa.
The competition is so close in 2010 and Schatz narrowly missed the heat race inversion when he qualified 17th in the field of 38 cars. He was the 27th car to hit the semi-banked half-mile oval and with a surface continuing to slow down, he his lap of 16.523 seconds wasn't enough for him to bump Chad Kemenah (16.493) and get a front row starting spot. Instead, Schatz raced to fourth in the first heat and worked with his Armor All crew to dial in the No. 15 J&J.
Schatz surged forward during the 25-lap A-Feature. He worked his way into the top-10 by lap nine and continue pressuring the drivers in front of him as the race went non-stop and only took about 9 minutes to complete. Jason Sides held off Steve Kinser for the win, while Dale Blaney and Lucas Wolfe finished just ahead of Schatz.
The team will return to their TSR shop in Brownsburg, Ind. while Schatz heads back to Fargo for a couple of days before their first visit to famed Knoxville Raceway for the Hall of Fame weekend event on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

SCHATZ THRILLS PACKED HOUSE IN CHARLOTTE
CONCORD, N.C. - (May 29) Donny Schatz has won a lot of races during the
previous four seasons en route to winning four consecutive World of
Outlaws titles. This season's "Drive for Five" started with a victory
on Feb. 5 and on Saturday night, Schatz broke his win draught by
scoring a thrilling victory in the Circle K NOS Energy Outlaw Showdown.
It feels good to get Armor All and STP back where they belong in
Victory Lane, said Schatz. I cant thank my guys enough. We beat
ourselves up pretty bad and shouldnt have, but we did. We learned a
lot through it all about each other and I think it made us a lot
stronger.

SCHATZ 12TH IN MICHIGAN
Lake Odessa, Mich. (May 23) - The last three weekends have seen Donny Schatz earn a front row starting position in World of Outlaws action. Unfortunately, none of those starts ended in victory for Schatz and the Tony Stewart Racing Armor All/STP team. The bad luck continued on Saturday night at I-96 Speedway in Michigan.
Schatz won the third heat and dominated the dash event to earn the pole position in the 30-lap A-Feature. The four-time and reigning champion ran second behind early leader Danny Lasoski before falling to third on a restart halfway through the race. Trouble struck again on lap 18 when Schatz for the second time in the last three weeks relinquished a top three position when his left rear tire exploded. The TSR crew replaced the tire and Schatz rejoined the field eventually working his way back to finish 12th.
The finish was his fifth outside the top-10 in 19 2010 WoO starts. He'll look to rebound next Friday in Charlotte when he competes the Circle K NOS Energy Outlaw Showdown from The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The action will air live on SPEED beginning at 7 p.m. CDT.
