ROSSBURG, Ohio (July 13, 2018) – Donny Schatz reached another milestone Friday night with his Knight Before the Kings Royal victory at Eldora Speedway. The win marked Schatz’s 275th career win with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.

Schatz started third on the grid for the 30-lap feature, but fell back to fourth at the drop of the green flag. Schatz was able to get by Tim Shaffer on lap five to reclaim the third spot, but made heavy contact with the outside retaining wall.

Unphased, Schatz continued his march forward.

The nine-time and defending World of Outlaws champion moved by Hunter Schuerenburg for second on lap nine before getting by Brian Brown for the lead the following circuit in lapped traffic. Schatz used a lapped car as a pick down the back straightaway to gain the lead into turn three.

Once out front, Schatz checked out from the rest of the field as he cruised to his 14th World of Outlaws win of the season and 10th career win at Eldora by 2.273 seconds over Greg Wilson.

“It got real slick,” Schatz said after the race. “I think my car was best in the middle and it’s not exactly my bag of tea to bounce off the cushion every lap,” Schatz added with a smile. “Greg [Wilson] is really good when the track gets like that. I know if I do everything right, there’s not many people that will pass this 15 car, but Greg is one of them. We’ve got to get a little bit better tomorrow for 10 more laps or Greg will kick all our asses.”

Schatz will go for his fifth career Kings Royal title Saturday, July 14th at Eldora Speedway. Catch the live video or audio at DirtVision.com.
